ARTWORK

Untitled 2011

"Brian Cimagala single-handedly brought me back to making art. I called it quits for a long long time because of ridicule and being depressed about my situation at the time. I was at a loss at that moment in my life when an unsuspected call came from a very intoxicated friend. He consoled me and told me that it was necessary for me to get back on it, to just produce and not worry about it. After that I was on that march. These four pieces are in his apartment in Brooklyn and that's exactly where they should be. I've given most of my artwork away since my living space is small and they tend to get damaged when they stay here for too long. These are the four pieces that I actually took photos of before I sent them out. From now on this is exactly what I'll be doing and this is also a reason why this particular section is so skimp." Mestizo Project 2011

"What I initially wanted to do with this project was to photograph 5 adults and 5 children. Well the children aspect was more difficult than I thought since people tend to exploit children in various ways so in turn it makes parents very worrisome to people who interact with their kids. So I chalked up the idea to experience. These are the only three that made it out of the bunch. I wanted to show that as a mixed race person, I would often get the question "So what are you?" when i was a kid and then in my adult life I'd get "So what nationality are you?" A curious mind you can never blame, but this always made me wonder about what I should be. Later in life I came to realize that we as people have more in common with each other than we have differences. So I set out to illustrate the people who were being photographed, in a blue mellow tone for a somber feel, and have the background bursting with energy." AMAZE 88

Ive done sticker designs for a long time and only recently they have come into reality. I would like to think that spreading these across the country gets my name out. But who knows. I'll keep making them because its cheap and super fun to do. Eventually I want to do die cut and large stickers. But for now these will do. Some of these are no longer available. I don't know if I'll re-print them or keep it moving. I tend to leave it to make more and keep the old ones as relics. Either way the artwork will live on. The typewriter design is done by a good friend of mine Jason Johnson. You'll be seeing more of his designs in the near future.
